East Riding Boundary Sign

It has been suggested that to erect a sign saying “East Riding” as part of the Yorkshire Boundary Sign Project would be confusing with the East Riding of Yorkshire council (ERYC) administrative area which covers a similar but very different area. The sign below has been in place for over 20 years and can be seen when travelling north on the A614 from the Boothferry bridge. The sign is in the ERYC area and appears to have confused no one in this time. In the distance is the M62.

I hope to share a full history of the sign shortly.
